How would this proposed ordinance change affect you?
Presently, real estate transactions notify parties to a sale of a home, in a High or Very High Fire Severity Zone, of local defensible space guidelines and allow for compliance with a Defensible Space Inspection to be finalized within one year of the sale of the home.
If the newly proposed ordinance is approved, properties will be required to meet the El Dorado County Hazardous Vegetation and Defensible Space Ordinance standards as part of the home buying and selling process, specifically by the close of escrow of the home but no later than 90 days post close of escrow - if agreed upon by all parties.
